V-Ray 3.3 for Maya is here!

The first thing users we’ll notice is speed. Most scenes render 20-50% faster with V-Ray 3.3 for Maya, and it’s a free update for V-Ray 3.X for Maya artists. Also, this release introduces final frame production rendering on the GPU with a major update to V-Ray RT. Like V-Ray for 3ds Max, 3.3 for Maya adds Variance-based Adaptive Sampling with better noise detection for cleaner images. It also brings faster set-up with less adjustments since lights and materials can now be evaluated automatically. And these are just a few of the many new features.

Users who have V-Ray 3.0 or 3.1 for Maya, just need to login at and go to the download page to get this free update.

Transforming Enterprise Productivity with Hybrid IT

A look into the mixed environment of mobile, cloud and data center

Hybrid IT is here. The flexible environment allows enterprises employees to use mobile devices to connect to cloud apps and on premise data centers in a seamless manner that boosts productivity and efficiency. Pulse Secure, in collaboration with cloud and security expert Jim Romeo, teamed up to co-author this piece which explores what is needed to effectively implement hybrid IT within the enterprise setting, along with specific case examples that examine the challenges and benefits of deployment.

The paper provides specifics on:

  • Managing security risks in a hybrid IT environment
  • Effectively leveraging the cloud and the data center
  • Mobility and the notion of securing data, not devices
  • Looking at the Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) model
  • Case examples ensuring seamless enterprise management and productivity in a hybrid IT environment

Hybrid IT is a game changer and its benefits far outweigh the risks– however, if the right steps aren’t taken, you could find yourself on the outside looking in.

Autodesk Perpetual License Changes

Autodesk is gradually transitioning new software purchases for their products to subscription options only.

By January 31, 2016 Autodesk will stop selling new perpetual licenses of individual products, and after July 31, 2016 Autodesk will no longer sell new perpetual licenses (both standalone and network licenses) of Autodesk Design & Creation Suites.

To ensure a smooth transition, Storm FX Account Managers will work with you to make the shift as seamless as possible, and can help with any questions you may have around these changes.

Here are some frequently asked questions to get you started.

Can I continue to use my existing perpetual licenses?

Yes. You will be able to continue using your existing software licenses indefinitely, including any new perpetual licenses purchased before January 31 2016 (for individual products) and July 31 2016 (for suites).

Can I continue to use and renew my Maintenance Subscription for my existing perpetual license?

Yes. This transition does not affect your current maintenance subscription in any way. For perpetual licenses with active Maintenance, you will continue to receive updates to your existing software version along with other benefits for as long as you continue to renew your Maintenance Subscription on time.

How will I be able to purchase products after the end of sale of perpetual licenses?

You will purchase Autodesk Products via a subscription.

Why is Autodesk making these changes?

Subscription offers a simplified and more flexible customer experience, lower upfront cost, and the ability to pay for Autodesk products and cloud services for the amount of time that is right for you.

Where can I get more information?

If you would like more information on these changes, you can visit the Autodesk website. Or give us a call and we will be more than happy to help you through this transition. Contact Us
